Mr Kim N Hakin is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon working in the NHS and in private practice, available for medico-legal consultations in London and Taunton.
His special interests include the management of cataracts, ocular trauma, eyelid and lacrimal surgery, including cosmetic eyelid surgery, facial aesthetic injection and laser treatments.
As well as his medical work in the UK, Mr Hakin also undertakes voluntary work overseas with organisations such as Surgical Eye Expeditions, Orbis International, and the Hawaiian Eye Foundation.
Mr Hakin has an Expert Witness certificate from Cardiff University / Bond Solon Solicitors and he is formerly expert adviser to Nuffield Hospitals, and the Healthcare Commission. He has have provided personal injury and medical negligence medico-legal reports for over twenty years, for amongst others, the General Medical Council, Medical Defence Union, Medical Protection Society, and Welsh Health Legal Services, as well as many solicitors firms and agencies, with a Claimant:Defendant ratio of approximately 50:50, and occasional SJE reports.
He is able to provide an opinion on most ophthalmological matters, including those relating to cataract surgery, trauma, and eyelid surgery (including cosmetic surgery), and can provide appointments for examination within 2-3 weeks, with a report turnaround time of two weeks.
